At the invitation of the Office of the Special Representative Delegation to Afghanistan under the EU ‘Conflict to Peace’ initiative, the Commissioner for Victims and Survivors in Northern Ireland will be attending a two-day conference from 12th to 14th December on the peace process in Afghanistan as part of a delegation agreed by the UK and Irish Governments. All those attending the event were selected by the EU Commission.
Judith Thompson is representing the work of the Commission in relation to victims, survivors and legacy issues.
In particular, she will be involved in a discussion with Dr Habiba Sarabi and other female Afghan leaders following Dr Sarabi's recent visit to Belfast.
The visit will close with a meeting to include European Union Member State Ambassadors and Government Officials.
