Commissioner Visits Creggan to Discuss Memorialisation

The Commissioner travelled to the Creggan area of Derry on the 2nd November to meet with local victims and community representatives to discuss the issue of memorialisation. Fr Joe Gormley and Fr Paul Fraser from St Mary’s welcomed the Commissioner to Creggan.

The meeting was hosted by Creggan Neighbourhood Partnership and Judith was welcomed by the Chair, Tony O’ Doherty and Shauna Deery.

Daniel Bradley and Forum member, Donal Dunn, also participated in a rich discussion on the importance of memorialisation to communities and how critically important it is, not only to victims but to younger generations to understand the impact of the legacy of the past.

The Commission look forward to continuing the discussion with the Creggan community as they explore the issue in more depth.
