The Commission for Victims and Survivors has warmly welcomed the appointment of Ian Jeffers as the new Commissioner, who will be taking up his post in May 2022.

Commenting on his appointment Ian said he was delighted and privileged to be given the opportunity to serve all those touched by Northern Irelands’ Troubles.

“Between now and May, when I officially take up post, I will be taking the opportunity to meet with the Commission team, Forum Members and as many other key stakeholders as my current commitments allow, to immerse myself in all of the current issues and set out some key priorities.

“This is a critical role at a critical time. It is imperative that the voices of all Victims and Survivors are not only heard but heeded when it comes to delivering on their needs.

“As we approach the 25th Anniversary of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement it is time to build for a future that acknowledges them as vital contributors to our society and we learn from their experiences to ensure this never happens again.”
