The Commission for Victims and Survivors is pleased to share that our newly appointed Commissioner, Joe McVey, held his first official meeting with the Victims and Survivors Forum on Thursday 9 October. 

This important meeting marks the beginning of a renewed chapter of engagement between the Commissioner and the Forum — a space established under the Victims and Survivors (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 to facilitate meaningful consultation and dialogue with victims and survivors. 

The Commissioner took the opportunity to listen to the perspectives of Forum Members, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring their voices remain at the heart of policy and decision-making processes. Discussions included reflections on the current landscape for victims and survivors, and initial views on the recently launched British-Irish Joint Framework, which was announced on 19 September 2025. 

Forum Members welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Commissioner and expressed a shared desire to continue open, honest dialogue on the issues that matter most to those affected by Troubles/conflict-related harm. 

The Commission would like to thank all Forum members for their ongoing dedication, and we look forward to further meaningful engagement in the months ahead.
