Support for Victims and Survivors Living in the Republic of Ireland

Friday 17 May 2024 marked the 50th anniversary of the Dublin-Monaghan bombings. Anniversary events were held in both Dublin and Monaghan on that day. The Commission for Victims and Survivors would like to take this opportunity to raise awareness and remind individuals and families living in the Republic of Ireland (RoI) and who have been or continue to be affected by a Troubles/conflict-related incident that services and support are available to them.

An RoI-based population survey conducted by the Commission in 2023 revealed that 10% of the population in the south could identify as a victim and/or survivor of the Troubles/conflict. Of this figure, 16% said that they don’t currently access any support or services but would like to.

A range of community-based support and services are currently available to victims and survivors living in the Republic of Ireland. Further information can be accessed via the Victims and Survivors Service (VSS). The VSS can be contacted in the following ways:
