From 1–7 June, Volunteers’ Week provided an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the incredible contribution volunteers make to communities across Northern Ireland and beyond.

At the Commission for Victims and Survivors, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our Forum members for the tireless work they undertake throughout the year.

Our Forum members generously volunteer their time, energy and expertise, bringing invaluable lived experience to the work of the Commission. Their contributions help ensure that the voices of victims and survivors remain at the heart of discussions, influencing policy, shaping services and informing decision-making.

Many members balance their Forum responsibilities alongside professional, family and community commitments, yet they continue to dedicate themselves to advocating for positive change and improving outcomes for others.

The perspectives they bring, often shaped by deeply personal experiences, are invaluable. By sharing their knowledge and lived experience, Forum members help strengthen understanding of the challenges facing victims and survivors and ensure their needs continue to be recognised and addressed.

Beyond their work with the Forum, members are actively involved in organisations, research, community projects and advocacy initiatives across Northern Ireland, further demonstrating their ongoing commitment to supporting others.

Volunteers’ Week is an important reminder of the impact volunteers have within our communities, and we are incredibly grateful for the passion, dedication and expertise our Forum members bring to the Commission every day.
