On 28 March 2015 the Commission, in partnership with the Victims and Survivors Service, held a one day conference to explore the inspirational and transformational aspects of counselling practice when working with psychological trauma. Bringing together experts in the field of post-traumatic stress and post-traumatic growth, this conference provided delegates with the opportunity to reflect on the impact of their therapeutic work and consider ways in which they can promote recovery and growth in order to help heal the trauma wounds of their clients. Afternoon workshops explored key issues in the counselling field such as evidence based practice, contextual challenges and therapist self-care.
